I’m sure thousands of other people noticed this long before I did, but in my defense I only saw the most recent Mission: Impossible movie a couple of days ago. I loved the brief moment when, during a scene set in London and involving the highest figures in the British government, you can just make out in the distance a parked silver Aston Martin DB5. Excellent shout-out from one spy thriller franchise to another.
I have been married long enough that when I leaned over to point out the James Bond-mobile out of focus in a distant part of the frame, my wife just smiled and patted my hand — much the same as one gently acknowledge a toddler when they nearly wet themslves in excitement over catching a glimpse of Mickey Mouse striding through Disneyland.
